Description

This course is designed for Physiotherapists who wish to apply Clinical Pilates within small group settings, without compromising clinical reasoning or individualisation.

While Physiotherapists are traditionally trained for one-to-one intervention, this programme provides the skills required to safely and effectively manage group-based Clinical Pilates classes, maintaining a strong clinical perspective.

The course focuses on lesson planning, group organisation and instructional strategies, always grounded in physiotherapy assessment and ongoing individual correction.

 

Key learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Design and deliver Clinical Pilates classes for small groups

  • Adapt exercises to heterogeneous clinical presentations

  • Maintain individualised clinical correction within group contexts

  • Integrate assessment findings into group-based exercise planning

 

 Core content

  • Principles of class structure: warm-up to cool-down

  • Group instruction and communication strategies

  • Organisation of space and equipment

  • Exercise selection for mixed clinical profiles

  • Progression and variation from Matwork Levels 1 and 2

  • Postural assessment and grouping criteria

  • Case studies in class planning and delivery

Prerequisite

Attendance of the Matwork Level 1 and 2 courses (or equivalent)
