Description

The Clinical Pilates – Women’s Health course focuses on the application of Clinical Pilates across the different phases of a woman’s life, recognising the complex physiological and biomechanical changes involved.

This programme is not a Women’s Health physiotherapy course, but rather a specialised Clinical Pilates course that applies the same clinical reasoning framework to female-specific contexts such as pregnancy, postpartum and menopause.

Participants will learn how to adapt exercises safely, recognise contraindications and identify warning signs, ensuring evidence-based and responsible exercise prescription.

 

Key learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply Clinical Pilates safely across women’s health contexts

  • Modify exercises according to physiological changes and life stages

  • Integrate international guidelines into clinical exercise prescription

  • Design appropriate therapeutic exercise programmes for women

 

 Core content

  • Anatomical and physiological changes across women’s lifespan

  • Pregnancy, postpartum and menopause considerations

  • Indications, contraindications and warning signs

  • Review of lumbopelvic stability concepts

  • ASLR and muscle slings assessment

  • Extensive repertoire of adapted Clinical Pilates exercises

  • International exercise guidelines (pregnancy, postpartum, osteoporosis)

  • Clinical reasoning and case studies

15 hours (2 days)

Prerequisite

Attendance of the Matwork Level 1 course (or equivalent)
